Review...
Whilst the Peak District National Park is justly famous for its landscape, the towns and villages form an integral part. The author has divided the area into the following sections - Northern Peak, Central Peak, South-Eastern Peak and South-Western Peak.
Within each area the selected towns (yes they are included despite the book title) and villages are arranged alphabetically. The places discussed are not always the usual pretty 'honeypots', the book also gives an insight into the industries, people and customs that have shaped the Peak District and helped make it what it is today.
The final section is a list of attractions that the visitor may find of interest. Unfortunately the phone numbers aren't included, but Tourist Information Centre phone numbers are given. This attractive and informative book is profusely illustrated with colour and black and white photos.
